Brian Bender

With happy memories of Brian and family in Brussels.

Brian was a much valued friend and colleague, and I deeply lament his passing.

Remembering a generous and warm colleague over many years. Deepest sympathy to Penny and the family at this Christmas time.

In memory of Brian Bender, in the hope that this awful disease will one day be eliminated.

It was a great privilege to have worked with Sir Brian at Defra. He was engaging whilst incisive and he entrusted me with the responsibility of managing senior appointments, a subject he held dear under his Chairmanship. On his leaving Defra he was proud to tell me that we had made a great impact and I will always be grateful to him for sharing the challenge with me.

Such a sad loss, and such a cruel disease.

Brian will be long remembered as a great public servant and person. We will miss him at Test Matches.

A calming presence, a reliable friend, he is much missed

Brian was a wonderful colleague and a supportive boss who taught me a great deal. Very sad to lose him so young.
